Coinbase suspend the account of WikiLeaks

The exchange platform Coinbase has taken an important decision, prohibiting them from offering their services to the famous NGO WikiLeaks. A decision that has significant impacts at the international level and that the NGOS consider to be particularly unfair.

A letter strategic

The platform for exchange of california, Coinbase has decided to send a letter to WikiLeaks. In this exchange, we learn that the american giant, specializing in the exchange of crypto-currency, has decided to no longer deal with the levels of brokerage through their banking relationship. The shop WikiLeaks believes that Coinbase has taken a hasty decision, and that the exchange platform has not provided sufficient explanations to justify it.

ANNOUNCE: Coinbase has blocked the official @WikiLeaks shop from its platform without notice gold explanation. You can continue to donate #Bitcoin to WikiLeaks at #Coinbase #DefendWL #Cryptocurrency #Ethereum #BitcoinCash #ReconnectJulian

The non-governmental organization does not, therefore, understand the decision taken by Coinbase, and is quickly expressed on the social networks to denounce what its leaders call an injustice. However, WikiLeaks said still be able to take care of the payments in Bitcoins.

A complicated decision to manage

WikiLeaks and its founder Julian Assange are very difficult to manage since the foundation of the NGO in 2006. Currently, Julian Assange is in the embassy of Ecuador in London and says that he no longer has access to the Internet. As a reminder, WikiLeaks specializes in the publication of confidential documents and policy analysis at the international level. This NGO is funded by donations and by the sales within the store online. In particular, there is t-shirts, mouse pads… users can now pay in Bitcoins, but without going through Coinbase.

WikiLeaks will call for a global blockade of Coinbase next week as an unfit member of the crypto community. Coinbase, a large Californian Bitcoin processor, responding to a concealed influence, has blocked the entirely harmless @WikiLeaksShop in a decision approved by management.

WikiLeaks believes to be a victim of a blockade world and blames it on Coinbase to have taken an unjust decision in refusing to allow the NGO access to its services. The decision has not been commented by the exchange platform Coinbase who does not want to obviously not go back.
