The High Council of Cyberspace (HCC) iran has declared that it will host the Bitcoin with open arms, but had some reservations. It is important to remember that at the beginning of the month the iranian government has already said that he was in favor of Bitcoin. According to the newspaper iranian Financial Forum, Abolhassan Firouzabadi, secretary of the HCC, said : “We gladly accept the Bitcoin, but we need to have regulations for Bitcoin and any other crypto-currency […] follow the rules is a must. “
In Iran, crypto-currencies are used, despite the absence of a regulatory framework
In spite of the absence of a specific regulation on crypto-currencies in Iran up to now, the Bitcoin is used in the country for payments, trade, mining, and various other activities, he added. However, the secretary of the HCC warned : “The mechanisms of control and supervision of the provision of crypto-currencies are implemented thanks to the collaboration of the central bank and related entities, but people should be aware of the risks and dangers on the demand side. “
The iranian central Bank remains undecided
While the central bank has not yet found a definite position regarding the Bitcoin, the secretary of the HCC has confirmed that ” it will soon be clarified “, he said. Firouzabadi also stated that the HCC and the iranian central bank have already collaborated on the study of digital currencies, in the wake of the recent surge in prices, and that this process will continue. Two weeks ago, the deputy director of the new technologies of the central Bank of Iran, Naser Hakimi, warned the public of the “uncertainty” surrounding the Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies. He notably warned the investors that they put their capital at risk by betting on the crypto-currencies.
